Is it just me…

or have others noticed that we have become a nation of only our self? I have noticed a trend (mainly since I moved to the West Coast) of individuals forgetting that we are giant family. I have noticed a trend of individuals losing the long held believe in common courtesy.

Just the other day I was driving home when a Range Rover pulled in front of my mustang forcing me to slam on my breaks and then stopping dead in its tracks twenty feet up the road before turning to the right and performing a three-point turn right in front of me on a public street. I was the only car on the road and the Range Rover could have let me pass (As I did have the right-of-way) before it made its maneuver. Yet it did not…no, the driver was to important to wait five seconds for me to pass. And we all wonder what causes road rage? I would say it is individuals like this.

Earlier that same day I had a run in with a salesman who was rude and attempted to bully me as the customer. All I asked was can I see a certain product and he acted as if I imposed on his life. I left without him making a sale and without me making a scene. However before I left I did give him a bookmark for both Zechariah and In’Ferno I explained that he should attempt to treat everyone he meets as if they were a family member because you never know who you are rude to. I have thought about going back and speaking with the manager and explaining the events; but then I remember that jobs are hard to come by right now and I am sure that my point was made without the salesman losing his job.

I guess my point is that everyone should treat everyone else with respect because you never know who it is that you are dealing with. You know the whole love thy neighbor deal. Or treat everyone as you want to be treated, not as you have been treated (Maybe we can start a politeness movement- ---yea I know… bats flying out of a certain body cavity). Anyway American is divided enough right now to have individuals divide us further by acting as if the world revolved around that individual. Here is a hint... the world does not revolve around you so do not act as if it does…
