Hollywood has destroyed the iconic name of George A. Romero…

Everyone who knows me knows I am a fan of horror movies. My two favorite genres are Werewolves and Zombies…and with that said I watched… no I suffered through the remake of “Day of the Dead.” This was one of the worst remakes if not movies ever-ever made.

Now the reason why these are my two favorite genres is because both are based in the historical record…whether the reports where true or not. As far as werewolves, when you read my next novel “The In’Ferno Affect,” you will read about the origin of the werewolf (Great plug for my new novel, ha-ha). New considering the name of this post we will discuss zombies. Zombies or the legend there of comes from Haiti and the practice of Voodoo… who do… you do. Zombies are not dead individuals; however, those who believe they are zombies also believe they are dead. What happens comes from the 1962 story of a man named Clairvius Narcisse (real-life zombie) who is believed to have been sold into zombie slavery by his brother. What happened or for that fact happens is an individual is given a drug (Based on the puffer fish) that slows the individual’s heart rate to a standstill and then the individual is declared dead. The individual who is aware of everything during the process is then buried by day and unburied by night by the rich individual who paid from the supposed dead individual. The rich landowner now has a zombie... well not a zombie but instead a brainwashed individual who is now a slave to that landowner. In the end zombies are nothing more than slaves, the history of the world.

The movie “The Serpent and the Rainbow,” is based on Wade Davis who brought this true zombie practice to light. Cheesy movie yet the story is amazing when you consider it is based on real events...

What George A. Romero created with “Night of the Living Dead,” was a masterpiece for its time. He used the very real fear of zombies to make a political statement against a government who refused to listen to its citizens in the late 60s (Not much has changed). His next movie which is also considered a masterpiece “Dawn of the Dead,” is yet another statement against American consumerism. Then came his next installment in the series “Day of the Dead,” which is also a statement about the insanity of isolation and how it affects individuals differently. “Land of the Dead,” was a statement about the class warfare our country is victim to. Finally came “Diary of the Dead,” his retelling of his first masterpiece and a masterpiece in its own right; however, this time his statement was against the mainstream media and the lies they tell us and how people seeking the truth can find that truth on the internet.

So think about this… George A. Romero stated that governments do not less to their citizens who are normally to busy with consumerism to fill the void of their insanity of isolation that comes from the fabricated class warfare that the media attempts to preach to these unheard citizens. Sounds like American doesn’t it…
Yes, there is makeup and special effects in his movies that are meant to scare yet his movies are more dialogue driven if you listen. Re-watch the movies with what I have just written and you will be surprised that a so-called horror movie has more social relevance than most dramas.

Today… movies lack that social relevance and horror movies are just meant to scare you, and they do a bad job of that. The remake of “Dawn of the Dead,” was about an hour and a half… the original “Dawn of the Dead,” was well over two hours. Movies get shorter as ticket prices skyrocket. Movies lose all scenes that may provoke thought as to not offend someone… to prove this point they could never remake “Dressed to Kill,” because they will offend transvestites. Also zombies do not run and crawl on ceilings and break throw walls like the new movies portray, THEY ARE DEAD, THEY MOVE SLOW BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO STRENGTH!!!
And today all they do is remake old films… is it that they have no more original ideas… the answer is no, there are countless new ideas but the new ideas may provoke thought (Heaven forbid). This is the same with literature… there are more books published on-demand then traditionally because publishers are scared to take on a new idea..

Do not be a zombie, think for yourself, ask questions, find facts, find new ideas and in the end you will find the truth…
